April 10 Kannada Cinema Update: New Releases Fill the Gap Left by Toxic
1 month ago | 5 Views
The announcement that Rocking Star Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic would not be released in theaters on April 10, 2025, prompted several significant release updates from other language films. Initially, it was reported that Rebel Star Prabhas’ The Rajaa Saab was considering the now-available date, but it was subsequently disclosed that production and visual effects delays would prevent its release on April 10.
Following this, Malayalam superstar Mammootty confirmed that his action thriller Bazooka has targeted this date and is committed to that schedule. Directed by Deeno Dennis and featuring music by Midhun Mukundan, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Gautham Vasudev Menon, Sharaf U Dheen, Shine Tom Chacko, and Sidharth Bharathan, among others.
Additionally, the team behind Thala Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly announced that their film is set to release on April 10. Joining Ajith’s project at the box office is Dhanush’s new directorial venture Idli Kadai; however, there are rumours that Dhanush may choose to advance his film's release, as he is speculated to be collaborating with Ajith on an upcoming project.
Good Bad Ugly is expected to receive significant attention in Karnataka as well, emerging as the major release of the week. The distribution of theaters for the Ajith film will play a crucial role in determining the performance of Kannada films during this period. Currently, four original Kannada films are set to compete at the box office in the week of April 10.
Initially, Nagabhushana's Vidyapati, a comedy produced by Dhananjaya's Daali Pictures, was presented. This was succeeded by the action film Vamana, featuring actor Dhanveerrah. The third entry was Karavali, a collaboration between Prajwal Devaraj and Gurudutt Ganiga. Following this, Krishna Ajai Rao's courtroom drama Yuddhakaanda was showcased as the fourth offering. Finally, Janardhan Chikkanna's Agnyathavasi, produced by Hemanth M Rao, completed the lineup.
Subsequent to the release window on April 10, the next significant set of releases is scheduled for April 25. This timing should provide the four Kannada films a reasonable opportunity to attract audiences. While Nagabhushana's Vidyapati appears to be a comedic delight, Karavali presents a more serious tone, similar to Yuddhakaanda, which is a production by Ajai Rao's own company.
