Anurag Kashyap suggests that the sequel to Kennedy might be turned into a web series

Anurag Kashyap is already teasing a sequel to Kennedy while we wait for its release. In an interview with The Hindu, he mentioned that a specific character, the main one, will get more depth in the upcoming web series. "I’ve got a sequel web series planned where the character makes it through the events of Kennedy," Kashyap revealed.
Anurag Kashyap drew inspiration from the real-life story of Kennedy
Anurag Kashyap's film Kennedy revolves around an undercover cop named Uday Shetty, portrayed by Rahul Bhat, with Sunny Leone playing the character Charlie. The director shared that he was inspired by a real-life figure from the Mumbai police force, whose story lingered with him for quite some time. Although Kennedy was previously sidelined (Kashyap has five other projects waiting), it’s finally making progress and has received clearance from censors. The movie had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and is now looking forward to hitting Indian theaters later this year.
What’s the connection between Mohanlal and Kennedy?

Kashyap shared in the interview that he originally envisioned Kennedy with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in mind. At that time, the project had a different direction, and he even considered Rajeev Ravi to direct it. Since the initial idea didn’t really get off the ground, it evolved into what we now recognize as Kennedy. The film is set to be part of Zee Studios' lineup for 2025, but there’s no official release date yet. It’s expected to hit theaters when it finally comes out.
