Ram Charan and Kiara Advani's upcoming film, Game Changer, is set to be the first major release of 2025. Directed by Shankar, the movie will finally premiere in theaters on January 10 after facing several delays. The team is currently in full promotional mode, and they recently held a big event in Dallas, USA. During the event, Shankar made a comment that quickly went viral, mentioning that he created Game Changer to cater to the audience's shorter attention spans. This remark hasn't sat well with Anurag Kashyap, who took the opportunity in a recent interview to criticize the renowned director for his words.

Anurag Kashyap responds to Shankar's trending remark

At a recent event in the US, Shankar, known for films like Robot, Sivaji: The Boss, and 2.0, mentioned that his upcoming film Game Changer is crafted to fit modern viewing habits, comparing its style to a collection of Instagram Reels put together. Meanwhile, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Anurag Kashyap expressed his worries about a rising trend among filmmakers.

He mentioned, "I came across this statement from Shankar sir where he said, ‘Today’s audience has a really short attention span. They’re all about Reels now. So, we kept that in mind while making Game Changer.’ Honestly, I’m not sure what that really means! We’ll find out once we see the movie."

Kashyap went on to discuss how many filmmakers are jumping on this bandwagon. He said, "A lot of directors are starting to think like, ‘My film is basically a bunch of Reels stitched together because that’s what the audience craves.’ Filmmakers who used to feel like artists to me, crafting unique experiences, are now acting more like caterers. The moment you start focusing solely on what the audience wants, that’s when things start to go downhill. The audience isn’t just one entity; it’s a huge ocean of people. There’s an audience for everything."
