Anubhav Sinha Reveals 18-Year Silence with Ajay Devgn, Suggests Political Views May Be the Cause
1 month ago | 5 Views
Ajay Devgn starred in the 2007 movie Cash, directed by Anubhav Sinha, alongside a cast that included Suniel Shetty, Esha Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Dia Mirza, and Shamita Shetty. After that film, Sinha often collaborated with Mirza and other actors, but he and Devgn never teamed up again, sparking rumors of a fallout between them. Recently, Sinha revealed that he and Devgn haven't spoken in 18 years. He mentioned that when he tried to reach out to Devgn, he never received a response.
Anubhav Sinha's efforts to reach out to Ajay Devgn
Sinha shared with The Lallantop that he and the actor have never had any arguments. No matter what happens, the actor just won’t engage with him. They haven’t crossed paths since wrapping up Cash, so Sinha feels like he can’t even start to explain how Devgn has ignored him. Perhaps he’s reading too much into it. He did reach out to the actor twice but didn’t get a response, leading him to think that Devgn might have missed his texts. It’s worth noting that their last chat was nearly 18 years ago.
The filmmaker quickly clarified that there was never any argument between them when asked if they had ever disagreed. The real conflict was between the producer and the financier; he wasn’t involved in that.
When asked about a potential dispute over a song that Devgn wanted included, Sinha said he wasn’t aware of any disagreement regarding any song. He mentioned that Devgn is one of his favorites, not just for his acting but also for who he is as a person. No matter the situation, the actor is always the first to lend a hand to a friend.
Different political views
The filmmaker recalled tweeting about people's political views, which he thinks might have rubbed Devgn the wrong way. Sinha probably had a word with him too, since he ended up commenting on political opinions during the chat. But he didn’t just focus on Devgn; he had thoughts on others as well. Regardless of what he’s said, the filmmaker maintains good vibes with everyone. He really respects Devgn both as an actor and as a person, and he’s definitely a fan.
He also talked about his experience working on the TV series Shikast, which starred Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana, and more. Back then, they were all buddies, and hanging out for dinner was a common thing. Sinha confessed that Bajpayee’s part was added later on, and he hadn’t originally planned for him in the script.
Manoj Bajpayee's latest take on collaborating with Anubhav Sinha
The script originally didn’t have a role for Bajpayee, but one day the filmmaker realized he needed to create a part just for him. At that time, Bajpayee was dealing with some tough personal issues. Sadly, he’s since decided not to work with Sinha anymore, stating he only wants to focus on music videos with him.
Sinha is currently developing a film that Bajpayee was eager to be a part of, and he really wanted him in the cast. However, the days Sinha has in mind for shooting don’t line up with Bajpayee’s schedule. The actor struggles with taking on supporting roles, which is a big hurdle since he’s always been the lead in his projects.
Even in his darker roles, there’s something special about Bajpayee that stands out. He’s turned down Sinha’s offers twice, including a role meant for Pankaj Kapur in Mulk, which Sinha knew he wouldn’t take. There was also a part in Dus that Bajpayee declined. Since those experiences, Sinha has become more careful about casting, avoiding giving roles to actors who might not accept. Although Bajpayee was interested in the role Sinha offered, he won’t be available until April.
