Chef Chidambara, the comedy thriller led by Aniruddha Jatkar, recently confirmed its OTT partner, when the film began streaming, albeit for overseas audiences only. The film, directed by M Anand Raj, had dropped on Amazon Prime Video, with access in UK and USA only. This has been the case for a lot of recent Kannada films, with a delayed India release on the platform. OTTplay had reported on July 18 that the film had begun streaming in some geographic locations, and it is only today, July 24, that it has become available for audiences in India.
All about Chef Chidambara
Chef Chidambara has Aniruddha as the title character, an award-winning chef, whose lack of financial acumen results in his family business – a beachside restaurant – at risk of being lost to a loan shark, Avinash (KS Sridhar). Desperate to save the restaurant, Chidambara agrees to help Avinash’s wife Mona (Nidhi Subbaiah) in the matter of a blackmailing former fling.
All that he has to do is collect a phone that has steamy proof of this relationship, in return for which she will give Chidambara the documents to his establishment. What starts as an easy task, though, goes south, when the guy ends up dead in Chidambara’s apartment. How Chidambara extricates himself from this situation, with a corrupt cop hot on his trail, is what the film is about. According to the film team, the basic premise of Chef Chidambara is inspired from a real-life story from Sri Lanka.
The film also stars Sharath Lohithashwa, Shivamani and Rachel David in pivotal roles. Music is by Ritvik Muralidhar, who was also seen as an actor in Baang, while the dialogues and screenplay are by Shree Ganesh Parashuram, the director of Baang. Chef Chidambara is a breezy watch, that is all of an hour and a half in length.
