At a recent press conference in Mumbai on Friday for the upcoming film Kesari 2, actress Ananya Panday opened up about her transformative experience while working on the project. She highlighted how the film significantly changed her views on India's history and the struggle for freedom.

Panday shared her emotional response to the script, noting that it raised many questions about the historical events portrayed. She said, "Reading the script was such an emotional experience. I found myself asking, did this really happen? We learned about this in history class, but not in such depth. I gained so much knowledge from this script."

She stressed the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made for India's freedom, a realization that resonated with her more deeply through her role in the film. "The biggest takeaway for me is that our generation often takes our freedom for granted, thinking it's just a given. But being part of this film made me feel the weight of those sacrifices. I truly understand that now. I feel like I've changed as a person after this experience," she reflected.

Talking about her journey with Kesari 2, Panday mentioned that she was introduced to the project back in 2021. "It's been quite a journey. I first heard about this film in 2021, and it's been a really special experience for me," she added.

Taking on the challenges of her new role, she shared, "When they approached me, I couldn't picture myself in it. I thought, how am I going to pull this off? It felt like a huge challenge. I've tackled different types of roles before, but I was eager and thrilled to take this on."

Emphasizing her commitment to the character, Panday talked about her efforts to immerse herself in the film's cultural background. She expressed, "Honestly, I'm a big learner. I was really enthusiastic about my studies in school. Being part of this film was exciting for me. To put it simply, I learned Punjabi and got to work with Akshay sir—I'm a huge fan of his. My dad has collaborated with him on many films, and finally, I got my chance. Overall, I’m really proud of this film."

Kesari 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is set to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, aligning with Good Friday. The film features Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, shining a light on the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the relentless quest for justice.
