Amid fans’ ire to announce release date, Thangalaan makers drop new update

The makers of Thangalaan are at the receiving end of fans’ ire after the team is yet to announce release date of the film, despite it being in the last stages of making. Recently, the team released a new poster of British actor Daniel Caltagirone for the occasion of his birthday. However, scores of fans have been still seemed to be disappointed with the update.

Thangalaan makers on pressure

On Tuesday, the makers of Thangalaan released a new poster of Daniel Caltagirone for the occasion of his birthday. It showed the British actor wielding a hunting rifle on his hand, as he stands by the shore of waterbody. The actor is expected to play antagonist in Thangalaan.

While the new poster may look like a new update from makers, scores of fans are seemed dejected after a release date is yet to be confirmed. Thangalaan has been in making for quite sometime now and was earlier scheduled to release in January this year. However, the makers pushed the release and have not yet announced a date. With Pushpa: The Rule, which was scheduled for August release pushed, fans have been expecting Thangalaan makers to grab the release window for Independence Day weekend. The silence from Thangalaan team has created furore with netizens growing impatient with the team.

Headlined by Vikram, the film is directed by Pa Ranjith and also stars Parvathy Thiruvottu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy and others. The film is a period action drama and is set to explore the origins of Kolar Gold Fields.

Thangalaan is backed by Jio Studios, Studio Green and Neelam Productions. GV Prakash Kumar has scored the music for the film. OTT giant Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical rights to the movie. It will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Tamil Praba has co-written the film, which was shot by cinematographer Kishor Kumar. Selva RK has worked on the editing.
