While Tamil cinema had been seeing a dull year this time, Amaran was one of the few star films that received good response from audiences and critics. The film is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and has music by GV Prakash Kumar. Kamal Haasan backed the film under his home banner Raaj Kamal Films International.
Amaran opened to positive reception upon its release, with critics praising Sivakarthikeyan’s transformation and Sai Pallavi’s performance. The OTTplay review of the film reads, “With Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi at the fore delivering powerful performances, the beauty of Amaran is that it never wishes to be a heavy viewing. It is a film that carries all core emotions.”
