December 5, 2024, is a date that will go down in the books of Indian cinema, marking the explosive release of Pushpa 2: The Rule. This film, starring Allu Arjun, didn’t need any buildup; it shot straight to the top of the box office, raking in over a thousand crores by the end of its run. There was no chance for any other film to steal its spotlight. One film that was supposed to go head-to-head with this blockbuster was Vicky Kaushal’s big-budget period drama, Chhaava, but it ended up getting pushed back indefinitely. Now, with just a week to go until its new release date, Allu Arjun has shared a fascinating tidbit about the film.

Allu Arjun asked the producers to delay the release of Chhaava?

Allu Arjun showed up at the success meet for Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad, where he shared his heartfelt thanks to the audience, filmmaker Sukumar, and his crew for all the support with Pushpa 2. He was super excited to discuss what’s likely the biggest hit of his career—something that’s going to be tough to top for a long time. During the event, he expressed his hopes for everyone to do well at the box office and mentioned that he even reached out to a filmmaker to ask them to delay their film’s release.

Yep, you heard that right! As reported by Hindustan Times, Allu Arjun mentioned at the success meet that there was a Hindi film set to release on December 6, which would have competed with Pushpa 2. While he didn’t name names, he confirmed that he personally called the filmmaker to request a change in their release date. The filmmaker agreed, saying they were fans of Pushpa and would gladly shift their release to make room for Pushpa 2. Interestingly, the only film that was rescheduled for December 6, 2024, is Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava.

I reached out to a filmmaker from Bollywood—I'm not really into that term, but you know what I mean—and they were supposed to join us on December 6. They were super flexible and changed their plans for us. I personally called to express my gratitude for the rescheduling, and they told me, ‘We’re all fans of Pushpa, and if you show up, we’ll make it work.’ I really appreciate all the different sectors of Indian cinema.

Allu Arjun expressed his gratitude to Sukumar for Pushpa, saying it’s “more than just a movie; it’s an emotion.” He shared, “For me, Pushpa isn’t just a film; it’s been a five-year journey filled with feelings. I want to dedicate all the hard work and success of this project to my fans and my team. Thank you for all your love and support. I promise to make you all even prouder. This is just the beginning, and with your love and blessings, I’ll keep making you proud.”

Pushpa 2: The Rule has just dropped on Netflix, and Chhaava is gearing up for its theatrical release on February 14, 2025. Keep an eye on OTTplay for all the latest updates on this and more from the streaming and film scene.
