All We Imagine As Light, the first Indian film to win the Cannes Film Festival’s Grand Prix award, is gearing up for its theatrical release in Kerala. As per the latest reports, the movie is all set to have limited screenings in major cities of the state from September 21. Rana Daggubati's production firm, Spirit Media, recently bought the exclusive rights to distribute the Payal Kapadia directorial in India.

As of now, the movie will be running in theatres along with the Onam releases, including Ajayante Randam Moshanam, Kishkindha Kaandam, and Kondal, as well as Biju Menon-starrer Kadha Innuvare. It is reasonable to suppose that the limited release is also a result of these films taking up the majority of the state's screen space.

It was earlier confirmed that All We Imagine As Light will have a theatrical release in India, however, the makers did not reveal an exact date. The film is already in the news and deemed as a strong contender for the Academy Award for Best International Film after taking home the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.

All We Imagine As Light: All we need to know

All We Imagine As Light took home the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival this year, the second-most esteemed honor after the Palme d'Or. Payal was the first Indian to receive this honor, making history in the process. Several celebrities, including Dulquer Salmaan, Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Mammootty, applauded the crew and shared pictures of the director and cast accepting the award.

This Indo-French film tells the story of Prabha, who receives an unexpected present from her estranged husband. In the interim, her housemate Anu finds a peaceful spot to be with her lover. Since its debut, the team has been praised by various film festivals. The supporting cast includes Anand Sami, Azees Nedumangad, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon.
