Ali Fazal teases plot of Mirzapur The Film, hints at a possible 'Back in Time' twist

After creating waves after the web series, there has already been a lot of buzz around the upcoming - Mirzapur The Film since its announcement. The film will mark the return of Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna as well as Abhishek Banerjee. It is being created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh. Now, in a recent interview, Ali Fazal opened up about the plot of the film and revealed that it might 'go back in time'. 

Ali Fazal spills some details about Mirzapur The Film

Ali Fazal, in an interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, talked about the storyline of Mirzapur The Film and revealed details about the differences between tackling a series vs a film. Speaking about the story, he revealed that they will supposedly be going back in time. He said, “We are very excited. Its the OG cast and we are going at the back of the table. Back in time, I suppose. It has to be back in time because there are like some dead people walking.”

Further talking about the Mirzapur prequel, Ali said, “You will find out. But, we are really excited to bring it to the theatres. Peaky Blinders also did that. It wasn’t like a one off or an odd choice of move.”


Meanwhile, after its theatrical release, the film will make its way to the streaming platform - Prime Video India. For the uninitiated, the first season of Mirzapur was released in November 2018. The second season was out in October 2020 and the third season was released in July 2024.  

When will Mirzapur The Film release in theatres?

Mirzapur The Film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh, is backed by Excel Entertainment. It is expected to hit cinemas in 2026.
