Ali Fazal on ‘Rakt Bramhand’: ‘Pushing My Limits Like Never Before’
1 month ago | 5 Views
Significant attention has been directed towards Rakt Bramhand, the upcoming Netflix series, capturing considerable public interest. Nevertheless, the ambitious fantasy project by Raj-DK was an easy choice for Ali Fazal to accept. However, the ensuing developments have proven to be somewhat challenging. Since the series commenced production in September of the previous year, the actor has been engaged in rigorous preparation.
Continued rigorous training despite delays
Fazal asserts that he remains diligently preparing for his role, which entails mastering Indian martial arts, engaging in weight training, and receiving diction coaching, despite the postponement of filming for the series, which features Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Wamiqa Gabbi, until April.
The actor articulates that the fantasy series centered on competing civilizations necessitates rigorous physical and mental conditioning from the outset. To enhance the authenticity and intensity of his action scenes, he participates in weight training, diction lessons, and traditional Indian martial arts. Fazal dedicates approximately six to seven hours daily to preparation, focusing on developing the appropriate physique and refining his speech.
Transformation for the role
Regarding his transformation for the role, the actor notes that he has been growing his hair for the past year in anticipation of the Rahi Anil Barve series. While hair growth is a significant aspect of his transformation, the true challenge lies in pushing both his body and mind to their limits. He explains that for the last six months, his mornings have been devoted to workouts, which include CrossFit and weight training.
Rohit Tyson serves as his trainer; having previously prepared him for Mirzapur, he is well-equipped to get Fazal ready for this new role. In 2024, the actor will also apply the skills he has acquired in jiu-jitsu. He trains three times a week, beginning with an hour of weightlifting followed by an hour of mixed martial arts, while on the remaining three days, he engages in an hour of CrossFit.
Busy shooting schedule ahead
It was initially believed that Ali Fazal would complete the filming of his Prime Video thriller directed by Prosit Roy prior to starting work on Rakt Bramhand. However, recent updates suggest that production for both projects is set to commence in April. The actor has expressed his appreciation for the upcoming lineup this year, though he refrains from providing further details.
Fazal is facing significant challenges on physical, emotional, and technical fronts with Rakt Bramhand, Lahore 1947, and Thug Life. Each production demands martial arts training, dialect coaching, and the emotional intensity required for a narrative like Lahore 1947. During a conversation with the tabloid, Fazal smiled, his demeanor reflecting the dual nature of the experience as both exhausting and fulfilling.
