Among the many memorable moments in Stree 2, Akshay Kumar's cameo takes the top spot. His cameo sees Abhishek Banerjee sit on the actor's lap. However, the original scene did not have that moment. It was a spontaneous decision, owing to Akshay and Abhishek's chemistry on the sets. Amar Kaushik recalled the incident and more during his recent interview. He also revealed how Akshay actually came on board and was ready from the word go.
Akshay Kumar's cameo and Abhishek Banerjee sitting on his lap was not in the script
Akshay Kumar's cameo in Stree 2 proved to be a powerful one, for he is the key to taking sarkata down, if he isn't sarkata himself. The interesting bit was his chemistry with Abhishek Banerjee. When Akshay's character meets Abhishek's Jana, he instantly feels that Jana is his lover from a past life. Jana played along, so he could get secrets out about sarkata.
The original scene was about Abhishek sitting in a corner and Akshay taking the limelight. However, it was Akshay Kumar who suggested that Abhishek should sit on his lap for the scene, director Amar Kaushik told Connect Cine. Not just that, Abhishek also added the COVID-19 line, which made the already funny movie hilarious to the next level.
How Akshay Kumar came on board for Stree 2
Amar discussed Stree 2 with Akshay on the sets of Sky Force, while they were shooting on the streets of London. The director revealed that Akshay gave an instant yes to the cameo. "Karunga beta, bilkul karunga," he recalled Akshay saying. They then discussed the dialogues and Akshay once again confirmed he's on-board with the project. On the sets, Akshay had a fun ride and was up for multiple takes as well.
More about Akshay Kumar's cameo and his future in the universe
