Six weeks following its theatrical debut, Sky Force has now become available on OTT platforms. During its initial release, the producers did not disclose the streaming destination for the film post-theatrical run. However, the film, which stars Akshay Kumar alongside newcomer Veer Pahariya, is now accessible on Prime Video, albeit for rent. Viewers can watch the film for a fee of ₹349 on the streaming service.

Overview of Sky Force's Plot and Setting  

For those unfamiliar, Sky Force is an action drama that centers on the 1965 Indo-Pakistani air war, specifically highlighting India's first airstrike on the Pakistani Sargodha airbase. The cast also includes Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in supporting roles. The film is produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films, with direction by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani.

A surprise attack during the 1965 Indo-Pak War results in significant casualties for India. Squadron Leader Vijaya courageously confronts a more powerful enemy aircraft single-handedly, but Wing Commander Ahuja initiates a counteroffensive, leading to Vijaya's mysterious disappearance. After a thorough investigation spanning 23 years, Ahuja uncovers evidence of a cover-up and ultimately receives posthumous recognition for Vijaya's bravery and sacrifice.

In this narrative, Akshay Kumar portrays a fictionalized version of Om Prakash Taneja VrC, taking on the role of Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja. Veer Pahariya plays T. Krishna Vijaya "Tabby," a character inspired by Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya MVC.

Controversies and bans have arisen, with several Arab Gulf nations, including Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, imposing bans on the film. Additionally, some members of the Kodava community believe that the film inaccurately depicts Ajjamada B. Devaiah as a Tamil individual.

The film Sky Force premiered in theaters on January 24, 2025, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. Despite receiving predominantly favorable reviews from critics, it underperformed at the box office.

Box office collections

The film experienced a substantial decline in box office collections on Monday, following a strong opening weekend that was attributed to notably lower ticket prices. The anticipated worldwide gross for the film was projected to fall between ₹144 crore and ₹168.60 crore by the conclusion of its theatrical run.

Sky Force is scheduled for a comprehensive release on Prime Video starting March 21, 2025.
