10 days ago | 5 Views
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar attended a special press conference in Mumbai to promote his upcoming historical drama, Kesari 2. During the event on Friday, he shared his deep passion for the film and its personal relevance to him.
Reflecting on the story of Kesari 2, Akshay expressed, “This tale means a lot to me. I've been aware of it since I was a kid; it’s always been in my thoughts. When Karan Singh Tyagi shared the narrative with me, I knew right away that I had to be part of this project.”
The film focuses on the tragic events of April 13, 1919, when British troops led by Colonel Reginald Dyer opened fire on unarmed civilians in Amritsar, leading to a devastating loss of life. Discussing the impact he hopes the film will create, Akshay stated, “This film will bring about change. I’m not expecting immediate apologies, but I want people to watch it and recognize the wrongs. Once they see it, everything else will follow. An apology will come, but first, they need to see the film.”
He made a direct request to the British government, saying, “I want the British Government to view this film. I want King Charles to see it.”
Akshay’s sincere message adds a significant layer of purpose to the film’s release, highlighting that Kesari 2 is not just a movie—it’s a plea for acknowledgment, understanding, and possibly even a step towards historical reconciliation.
