Fans of Ajith Kumar received an exciting surprise last week when the makers of the Tamil film *Vidaamuyarchi* released a teaser. They also announced that the film is set to be released during Pongal 2025 in January. However, trouble has arisen for the filmmakers, as *Vidaamuyarchi* has been accused of being an unofficial remake of the Hollywood thriller *Breakdown*. The production company behind the original film is suing the makers of *Vidaamuyarchi* for copyright infringement.

The teaser for "Vidaamuyarchi" was recently released on social media by the filmmakers. Starring Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun, and others, the teaser bears a strong resemblance to the 1997 Hollywood action thriller "Breakdown," which features actors Kurt Russell, JT Walsh, and Kathleen Quinlan. The film follows a couple on a road trip whose car breaks down. When the wife mysteriously disappears in the desolate landscape, the husband must unravel the mystery of her abduction.

Based on the visuals from the teaser of *Vidaamuyarchi*, it appears that the film, starring Ajith Kumar, is a remake of the 1997 movie *Breakdown*. The teaser shows Ajith Kumar desperately searching for his wife in a desert setting. However, it has come to light that the production company behind *Breakdown* has sent a legal notice to the producers of *Vidaamuyarchi*, Lyca Productions, demanding compensation of $15 million on the grounds of copyright infringement. *Breakdown* was distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced by Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis.

 Will "Vidaamuyarchi" be released in January 2025?

The makers of "Vidaamuyarchi" have not yet clarified how they will address the copyright violation issue. However, the film, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, is set to be released in January 2025 for Pongal. It is important to note that another Ajith Kumar film, "Good Bad Ugly," is also scheduled for release around the same time. This situation indicates that one of the two films will likely have to postpone its release. Only time will reveal which producer decides to back out of the January release.
