Aasai, the 1995 Tamil romantic thriller starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Aha Tamil, the platform announced recently. Directed by Vasanth, Aasai is backed by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam and also stars Suvaluxmi as the female lead.

Aasai is a romantic thriller and revolves around a man who has bad intentions for his sister-in-law and lusts after her. He kills his wife after the latter comes to know of his intentions and the rest of the film is how the man tries to get closer to his sister-in-law while her fiancé comes to her rescue. Prakash Raj plays the brother-in-law, while Ajith plays the fiancé. Suvaluxmi marked her debut as the female lead with Aasai.

The film was a commercial success and one of the films that made Ajith a famous actor. The film released theatrically on September 9, 1995, and is now available on Aha Tamil to stream. The news comes just ahead of Ajith's birthday on May 1. The technical crew of Aasai includes Jeeva as the cinematographer and Deva scoring the music. Tracks like Meenamma Athikalayilum and Pulveli Pulveli became instant chartbusters. The film was later remade in Hindi as Pyaar Zindagi Hai in 2001.

Ajith Kumar’s upcoming line-up

Ajith Kumar, who is seen in action thrillers these days, is working on two films currently. He is shooting for Vidaa Muyarchi, which is directed by filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni. The film also stars Trisha, Arjun and others. Meanwhile, he will begin shooting for Good Bad Ugly with director Adhik Ravichandran in June. The film is backed by Mythri Movie Makers and is scheduled to hit big screens for Pongal 2025 in January.

The actor will be celebrating his birthday on May 1 and to mark the special occasion, his hit film Billa will be re-released in theatres. Another film of his, Mankatha, is also expected to have a re-release as a treat to scores of his fans.
