At the forefront of this movement is Maddock Films’ Horror Universe, which is thriving and setting the standard for others. Now entering this competitive landscape is Panorama Studios, poised to develop the Ajay Devgn-led film Shaitaan into a franchise, thereby initiating a new Horror Cinematic Universe. Indeed, this is accurate. The studio has devised a comprehensive strategy, and here are the key details you should be aware of.

2 Shaitaan Sequels Already in the Works

Shaitaan, featuring Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, and R. Madhavan in prominent roles, premiered in 2024 as a remake of the highly regarded 2023 Gujarati film Vash. Despite its release occurring merely a year after the original, the film resonated well with audiences and achieved notable box-office success. This success has instilled confidence in the producers, who have already initiated the development of two sequels to the film. Furthermore, plans for an expansive cinematic universe are reportedly underway.

Film industry insider Rahul Raut disclosed on Twitter that Panorama Studios is in the process of creating a Horror Cinematic Universe, with a remake of the Turkish film Dabbe set to be its inaugural project. The studio has also greenlit two sequels to Shaitaan, indicating a bold and ambitious strategy. However, it is still uncertain whether Shaitaan will be directly incorporated into the Horror Cinematic Universe..

Raut announced via Twitter: “Panorama Studios is set to establish a HORROR CINEMATIC UNIVERSE. The first project in this ambitious MOVIE UNIVERSE will be a REMAKE of the Turkish film #Dabbe... Additionally, the company led by @AbhishekPathakk intends to develop #AjayDevgn's #Shaitaan into a franchise, with TWO SEQUELS already in development.”

Notably, the Turkish film Dabbe, which Panorama is adapting, is already part of a franchise. Originally released in 2006, it led to a series of sequels, including Dabbe 2, Dabbe: Demon Possession, Dabbe: Curse of the Jinn, Dabbe 5: Zehr-i-Cin, and Dabbe 6, with the last entry released in 2015.
