Aishwarya Rajinikanth on Lal Salaam OTT release: We were able to retrieve some lost footage

Actor Rajinikanth, who will be soon seen in the upcoming film Vettaiyan, last appeared in a cameo role in his daughter and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam. The film, which released earlier this year, has not yet made its OTT debut. Now as per the new reports, Lal Salaam will soon be available on Netflix.
Lal Salaam gearing up for OTT release?
Lal Salaam released in February this year and is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The film stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. While usually the films are available on OTT after its theatrical run, Lal Salaam is yet to be make its streaming debut. The reason is that Aishwarya Rajinikanth had earlier said that the hard disk which contained footage of Lal Salaam went missing.
However, recently in an interview with Chennai Times, Aishwarya said that they were able to retrieve some of the film's lost footage. This means the footage will be added to the theatrical cut and an extended director's cut of the film will be made available on TT soon. The filmmaker also mentioned that this cut will be very different from the previous version of the film seen in theatres, and will be something that she envisioned the film to be.

Lal Salaam is expected to be available for streaming on Netflix soon. However, an official OTT release date of the film is yet to be announced by the platform. Produced by Lyca Productions banner which is also bankrolling Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, Lal Salaam has music scored by AR Rahman.
Lal Salaam is a sports action drama, which opened to negative reviews upon its release. The film revolves around two cricket players who come from different religious backgrounds and is set against the backdrop of Hindu-Muslim clash. The film also featured Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, K. S. Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah in prominent roles.
