Recently, the makers of Thalapathy 69 announced that actor Pooja Hegde will be cast opposite Vijay in the upcoming film. This marks the second collaboration between Pooja and Vijay who earlier appeared together in the 2022 film Beast. Thalapathy 69 is one of the most expected Tamil films announced this year. Headlined by actor Vijay, in what is expected to be his farewell film before he takes full-time politics, the makers of the film have been announcing the cast updates. Recently, Pooja Hegde was announced to be part of the film. Vijay and Pooja appeared in the 2022 film Beast.

Beast is an action thriller film written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film also stars Selvaraghavan, Shaji Chen, VTV Ganesh, Ankur Vikal, Aparna Das, Sathish Krishnan, Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley, among others. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film revolves around a former RAW agent who has to rescue hostages after a shopping mall gets hijacked. Anirudh Ravichander scored the music for the film, and tracks like Halamathi Habibo and Jolly O Gymkhana were chartbusters.

Apart from Pooja Hegde and Vijay, Thalapathy 69 also stars Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. There are also rumors that Priyamani and Prakash Raj would feature in the film. The film is produced by KVN Productions and has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander. H Vinoth is directing the film in his first collaboration with Vijay. The film is scheduled to release in theatres in October 2025. The makers of Thalapathy 69 have not yet revealed the genre of the film.
