Agnyaathavaasi Trailer: Unraveling Missing Persons, Murder, and the Quest for Truth

To uncover the truth behind a crime, there are three methods: relying on an eyewitness, gathering evidence based on suspicion, or acting out of fear of death. This is the premise presented in the trailer for Agnyathaavsi, an upcoming Kannada murder mystery directed by Janardhan Chikkanna, known for Gultoo, and produced by Hemanth M Rao under Dakshayini Talkies. The film has been completed for some time but is finally set to hit theaters on April 11. Ahead of its release, the team has shared a trailer featuring actors like Rangayana Raghu, Sharath Lohithashwa, Siddu Moolimani, Pavana Gowda, and Ravishankar Gowda, among others.

The storyline of Agnyathavasi

The earlier trailer hinted that Agnyathavasi centers on the puzzling disappearance of three individuals and a suspicious death, which seems to be a murder. The official synopsis states that the story takes place in 1997, where a remote police station in a small village in the Malnad region encounters a crime for the first time in 25 years. As the inspector delves into the investigation, he uncovers a trove of hidden secrets within the town.

Inspired by a tale from Krishna Raj, Agnyathavasi brings together Hemanth’s usual team, including Advaitha Gurumurthy as the cinematographer, Ullas Hydur for production design, and Charan Raj as the music composer. Initially, this film was supposed to be Janardhan’s second project, but due to delays, his work with KRG Studios and TVF on the comedy film Powder was released after Gultoo. Unfortunately, Powder, featuring actors like Diganth and Dhanya Ramkumar, did not perform well at the box office.

Agnyathavasi was originally set to be the first film featuring the well-known supporting actor Rangayana Raghu in a leading role, but that honor ultimately went to Shakhahaari. In a recent interview, Hemanth shared that they decided to postpone the film's release in hopes of finding a better time, especially considering the recent downturn in the Kannada film industry. Now, it will be one of three Kannada films hitting theaters next week, alongside major releases from other industries, including Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly, Mammootty’s Bazooka, Naslen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana, and Basil Joseph’s Maranamass.
