In Episode 5, the coven is transported into a 90s-inspired horror film reality where they must face literal ghosts. In the middle of this eerie challenge, an Ouija board appears and summons the spirit of Evanora, Agatha’s mother, who possesses her daughter’s body, furious that Agatha killed her coven. As Alice attempts to exorcise Evanora, Agatha transforms into a magical vampire, siphoning Alice’s energy.

It is during this intense moment that the big reveal occurs. As Agatha is draining Alice’s energy, Billy (Joe Locke) notices the Ouija board spelling out a name. He reads it aloud: Nicholas Scratch. Who Is Nicholas Scratch?

In the comics, Nicholas Scratch is the son of Agatha Harkness, though the identity of his father remains a mystery. Some speculate his father could be Mephisto or another demon, while others believe Agatha simply conjured him—putting her in line with Wanda Maximoff's abilities. Nicholas hails from New Salem, a secret community where witches and warlocks fled to escape the Salem Witch Trials. After Scarlet Witch abandoned the place, Nicholas became its leader and harbors resentment toward Agatha for leaving him. In response, he sends the witches of New Salem to capture her and bring her to justice.
