Imtiaz Ali’s partnership with Netflix has turned out to be a major win in the Indian entertainment scene. They kicked things off with a one-of-a-kind show that gradually built a fanbase and really hooked viewers. We're talking about "She," featuring Aditi Pohankar, directed by Sajid Ali, and penned by Imtiaz himself. Just when fans were eager for a third season, Ali dropped the news about his upcoming film "Amar Singh Chamkila," which went straight to streaming as a Netflix original. It seems like Netflix isn’t ready to part ways with the filmmaker just yet, as they’ve greenlit another series from him, reuniting the creative team behind "She." With Aditi Rao Hydari and Arjun Rampal on board, this new project is generating a lot of buzz!

The upcoming series is set to be a deep romantic drama, with Imtiaz taking the lead as the showrunner and Sajid stepping in as the director. For those who might not know, Sajid is famous for his work on the beloved romantic film Laila Majnu, which came out in 2018 and has since gained a cult following, often hailed as one of the best romantic films of the last ten years. It even made waves again when it was re-released recently. The duo is back together for this new project, featuring Arjun Rampal and Aditi Rao Hydari as the lead pair.

According to a report from Peeping Moon, the series is currently working under the title O Saathi Rey, with Imtiaz writing the script and overseeing the show. He’s also co-producing it through his company, Window Seat Films. While there aren’t many details about the storyline yet, it’s known that it will focus on an extramarital affair.

The combo of Arjun and Aditi is quite intriguing since it’s not a typical match-up. We don’t have any info on the roles they’ll be taking on or if they’ll be the ones doing the cheating or getting cheated on. The show is set to start filming in February 2025, and both Aditi and Arjun are really looking forward to it.

Imtiaz Ali Talks About The Fools of Istanbul

Imtiaz Ali is currently in the works on a new film called The Idiot Of Istanbul, featuring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri. According to Hindustan Times, he recently confirmed the project, saying, “The announcement is out, but it feels a bit premature. There’s definitely a movie in the pipeline, but I’m not sure it’ll be the next one I tackle. Still, I’ve been wanting to make this film for quite a while. It’s titled The Idiot of Istanbul.”

When asked if Fahadh would take on the lead role, he replied, “I’d really like that… absolutely. I’m all for it. And now that you’ve put me on the spot, I’m not sure why I shouldn’t say this, but yes, I do plan to make this film with Fahadh.”
