Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are gearing up to join Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy, Thama. This film is set to be a key addition to Vijan's horror universe, which was first announced back in October last year. Recently, there's been some buzz: Abhishek Banerjee, known for his role as Jana in Vijan's horror hits Stree and Bhediya, has shared whether he'll be involved in Aditya Sarpotdar’s direction.

Abhishek Banerjee in Thama?

Abhishek recently dropped some hints about his involvement in the upcoming horror film, but he didn’t give a straight answer. His reaction suggested that there’s a good chance he might show up in the next installment of the franchise. In a chat with Indian Express, when asked about his role, he said, "I’m part of the horror universe, that much I can share. But wherever there’s terror, I’ll definitely be there. So let’s wait and see."

Thama marks the fifth entry in Dinesh Vijan's and Maddock's horror universe, focusing on a vampire storyline. Ayushmann Khurrana, who’s taking on the lead role, expressed his excitement, saying, "I’m thrilled that Dinesh Vijan thinks this is the perfect time for me to join his blockbuster horror-comedy universe with Thama. After Stree 2 became the biggest Bollywood film ever, I’m eager to contribute to this universe’s legacy and ensure audiences have a memorable theatrical experience."

Maddock Films made a splash in the horror-comedy scene in India with their 2018 hit, Stree. The film was a huge hit, and its sequel turned out to be another blockbuster. Following Stree, they released three more films in this horror universe, featuring Varun Dhawan in Bhediya, Abhay Verma's Munjya, and Stree 2. Now, they've revealed an exciting plan for the next four years, with a total of eight new movies on the way.

In 2025, we can expect to see Thama and Shakti Shalini, while Bhediya 2 and Chamunda are set to drop in 2026. Then, in 2027, Stree 3 and Maha Munjiya will make their debut, leading up to the grand finale of the horror universe in 2028 with Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh.
