Aamir Khan Discusses His Decision to Pass on Darr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai
At the event marking the launch of the Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar film festival, a journalist inquired whether Aamir regretted turning down certain films. He responded, “I was initially set to do Darr, but ultimately decided against it... The reasons were not creative in nature. In hindsight, I believe it was the right choice, as the character was better suited to Shah Rukh. If I had taken on that role, the outcome would have been different because my perspective was different. I do not harbor regrets, as the film turned out well and achieved success... I was not meant to play that character.”
During the discussion, Aamir reflected on other films he had declined when an audience member brought up Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He remarked, “Indeed, I reviewed the script and suggested to the writer that it would be a better fit for Salman Khan. That was my initial response... I appreciated the script but recommended they approach Salman Khan... However, the writer did not go to Salman directly; he approached Kabir Khan first... Subsequently, Kabir took it to Salman. That was my stance. Regarding Munna Bhai, Raju wanted me to be involved... When he presented the script to me, he mentioned that the project had evolved into more of a sequel to the original film.”
