Earlier this week, during the annual CinemaCon convention and trade show in Las Vegas, James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, presented a preview of the forthcoming Superman reboot. The nearly five-minute clip featured David Corenswet portraying an injured Superman, assisted by his loyal pet, Krypto. It also provided the first look at the iconic Fortress of Solitude, Superman's renowned icy sanctuary from the comics.

Superman sneak peek

The sneak peek was officially released by DC on their channels on Thursday as an extended preview. The footage begins with a wounded and bloodied Superman lying on the ice, while Krypto playfully interacts with him, tugging at him and causing Superman to wince in pain and request that he stop. Superman then asks Krypto to take him "home."

As Krypto transports Superman for medical attention, the crystalline Fortress of Solitude rises from the ice. Inside, Superman is attended to by his robotic assistants, who identify 14 fractures and several damaged organs. They apply intense solar light for his treatment before the footage transitions to previously released clips from the teaser unveiled earlier this year.

Fans react to new Superman footage

Fans have responded enthusiastically to the new Superman footage, particularly enjoying Krypto's amusing antics. One fan commented, "As a dog owner, Krypto jumping on Superman all excited not realizing it hurts is too real for me lol." Another humorously noted, "'Fourteen fractured bones.' Thanks, Krypto, for 13 of those."

Many viewers praised James Gunn for effectively capturing Superman's humanity and comic-book-accurate humility. One fan remarked, "Superman in immense pain, still finding the time to thank and greet even the automatons who 'don't have consciousness' (and one of them clearly does because she gets excited) is so perfect." Additionally, there was widespread admiration for the design of the Fortress of Solitude. One comment highlighted, "I like how the Superbots and the Fortress have their distinct retro-futuristic look and feel. It really makes this version stand out."

Superman, under the direction of James Gunn, signifies the launch of the new DC Universe. The film features Rachel Brosnahan in the role of Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It is set to premiere in theaters on July 11.
