The triumph of Rekhachithram has significantly boosted its director, Jofin T Chacko, encouraging him to pursue more ambitious endeavors. His latest film, featuring Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan in leading roles, has successfully completed a 50-day run in theaters and is scheduled to begin streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium starting March 7.

However, Jofin is already progressing to his next projects. In a recent interview, he discussed two upcoming films following the success of Mammootty’s Priest and Rekhachithram.

Rekhachithram director to team up with Bobby and Sanjay duo

In an interview with Manorama News, the director revealed that he is currently developing two new projects. “I am planning a film with Bobby and Sanjay. Additionally, similar to Rekhachithram, I have another project in mind that will require multiple NOCs,” he stated, noting that this project will also be scripted by Ramu Sunil, who co-wrote the Asif Ali-starring film.

The NOCs he mentioned pertain to the primary challenge he encountered while producing Rekhachithram, which necessitated permissions from various individuals due to its exploration of alternate history. The narrative centers on a police officer's investigation into a missing woman, last seen on the set of Mammootty and Bharathan’s Kathodu Kaathoram in the late 1980s.

Utilizing the classic film as a backdrop, Jofin crafted an investigative thriller that also serves as a tribute to cinema, featuring several characters, including Mammootty, Bharathan, John Paul, and Jagadeesh, appearing as themselves. The character of Mammootty from the 1980s was generated using artificial intelligence.

When and where to watch Rekhachithram on OTT

The film, which also stars Manoj K Jayan, Zarin Shihab, Siddique, and Saikumar, is set to begin streaming on Sony LIV in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The movie has already achieved a global gross of over Rs 50 Cr.
