Thani Oruvan is 2015 action thriller starring actors Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara and Arvind Swamy as the antagonist. The film was directed by Jayam Ravi's brother and filmmaker Mohan Raja. Thani Oruvan became a blockbuster success and went on to become one of the iconic films in Jayam Ravi's career. In Thani Oruvan, Jayam Ravi plays the role of a cop, who has to track down one of the notorious criminals and an affluent scientist who uses secret illegal medical practices for profit, played by Arvind Swamy. The technical crew consists of cinematography and editing handled by Ramji and Gopi Krishna respectively. The music was composed by Hiphop Tamizha, which was highly praised upon its release.

Thani Oruvan sequel

After Thani Oruvan received tremendous response upon its release, the makers announced a sequel titled Thani Oruvan 2. Mohan Raja will return to direc t it, with Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara reprising their roles.

The plot of the new instalment has not yet been revealed, nor the release date. With both the actors busy with their respective projects, one can assume that it will take some time before we get update about Thani Oruvan 2.

Thani Oruvan was remade in several languages, including in Telugu titled Dhruva with Ram Charan, Rakul Preet Singh and Arvind Swamy, in Bengali as One with Yash Dasgupta, Nusrat Jahan and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
