The narrative of the film revolves around Munna, a street con from Mumbai who can dance like Michael Jackson. He takes on the challenge of turning Mahinder Fauji, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a ruthless gangster from Delhi into a 'first-class dancer' in just 30 days.
When Tiger Shroff's film was released in theatres, audiences already loved watching him in films like Baghi and Heropanti and hence the expectations from the film were all-time high. However, the action-dance musical Munna Michael opened on an average note at the box office and even the reviews for the film were mediocre.
During the release of the film, Nwazuddin talked about dancing on the screen for the first time. He had said, "Initially, I felt I was forced to do it, but I started enjoying dancing while doing the film... Dance is a passion just like acting. It's god gift to people. But I am not one of the gifted ones."
