Prasanna directed the romantic comedy film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, which Krishika Lulla and Aanand L. Rai produced. The director remade his 2013 film Kalyana Samayal Saadham in Hindi. The film's plot centres on a man whose erectile dysfunction affects his relationship with his fiancé and family. The film made its debut on September 1, 2017. When questioned about his time working with Ayushmann and Bhumi Pednekar during the release of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Prasanna gushed that working with them is a director's delight. Their performance in Dum Laga Ke Haisha solidified his admiration for them. They all agreed that they would be perfect for their film. Meeting them was like meeting a filmmaker's soulmate.

With Ayushmann once again at the helm and Bhumi making a cameo appearance, the spiritual successor, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, hit theatres on February 21, 2020.
