The film's plot centres on a man whose erectile dysfunction affects his relationship with his fiancé and family. The film made its debut on September 1, 2017. Their performance in Dum Laga Ke Haisha solidified his admiration for them. They all agreed that they would be perfect for their film. Meeting them was like meeting a filmmaker's soulmate.

With Ayushmann once again at the helm and Bhumi making a cameo appearance, the spiritual successor, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, hit theatres on February 21, 2020.
