Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is available for streaming on ZEE5. The narrative of the film revolves around S.K (Shahid Kapoor). When S.K.'s childhood friend, played by Divyendu, attempts suicide over an inflated electricity bill, he decides to seek justice for him. He drags the electricity company to the court so he can bring justice to his friend. Yami Gautam plays the role of a lawyer in the film. 

Earlier, while talking about sharing the screen space with Shahid Kapoor and how it was working with the actor, Shraddha Kapoor told IndianExpress, “It’s always a blast working with Shahid. Aside from being a fan of his work, he is also a friend. Also the fact that you know there’s a comfort knowing him. I was very excited mostly because this time, the fun aspect of the film was something I was looking forward to. He has got this side to him which is completely bonkers."

Along with Shahid, Yami, Shraddha, and Divyendu, the cast of the film also featured Sushmita Mukherjee, Samir Soni, Ashrut Jain, Anastasiya Ador, Sukhwinder Chahal, Rajendra Chawla, Shivam Gupta, Sharib Hashmi, Farida Jalal, Brijendra Kala, Neeta Mohindra, Sudhir Pandey, and Supriya Pilgaonkar, among others.
