Costao's actual name is Antonio Fwaminy da Costa Fernandes. He is a politician from Angola and held the position of ambassador to Egypt, India, and the United Kingdom. He rose to significant fame after starting his role as a Preventive Officer with the Goa Customs in 1979.
In 1991, he halted a significant gold smuggling operation linked to Alvernaz Alemao, the sibling of politician Churchill Alemao. The customs officer was also honored with the President's Award in 1996 for his courage and commitment.
