Game Changer has established a new standard for high-budget Indian cinema this year, boasting a reported budget of ₹400 crore. In response, numerous other major films from various regions of India are aiming to match this benchmark. One Telugu production has opted to leverage substantial financial resources to create an impressive scale, with a reported budget of ₹360 crore and a sequence featuring 3,000 extras.

The Telugu film with 3000 extras in one scene

This past week marked the commencement of Jr NTR's upcoming film, directed by Prashanth Neel. The project, which remains untitled, is currently referred to as #NTRNeel. It is being developed on an extensive scale, with aspirations to become the most significant undertaking of NTR's career since RRR, as indicated by reports of its substantial budget and grand scenes.

Filming began on Thursday at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where director Prashanth Neel directed a high-octane action sequence involving approximately 3,000 extras to create a riot scene. A behind-the-scenes image from this sequence provided a glimpse into its intensity and grand scale.

How NTR's next dwarfs Bollywood biggies

According to 123 Telugu, the film #NTRNeel is reported to have a budget of ₹360 crore, making it one of the highest budgets for any forthcoming film. Although the producers have yet to officially confirm this amount, other sources have either corroborated this figure or cited a similar high estimate of ₹350 crore. Regardless, #NTRNeel's budget is projected to be 150% greater than that of Vicky Kaushals Chhaava, which is currently dominating the Bollywood box office. Notably, the budget for this Telugu action film surpasses even that of major productions such as Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (₹300 crore) and Hrithik Roshan's War 2 (₹200 crore). It is worth mentioning that War 2 will also mark the Bollywood debut of Jr NTR.

Jr NTR is anticipated to commence filming in the next schedule, which is expected to start in March 2025. Furthermore, actors Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas are rumored to be involved in the project. While the title of the film has yet to be revealed, it is scheduled for a significant theatrical release on January 9, 2026. The production is being supported by Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts.
