During the 29th anniversary of the film, Madhuri Dixit revealed in an Instagram post why she said yes to this Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt starrer. She wrote, "After reading the script of this film, I instantly decided to be a part of it. The story was romantic, the dialogues were poetic and the music was brilliant.” 

Recently, in an interview, Lawrence talked about his 1991 hot film and revealed his as well as the lead actor's salaries for Saajan. He mentioned that while he was paid Rs 8 lakh to direct the film, Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan each got Rs 11 lakh and Sanjay Dutt received Rs 12 lakh as their salaries.

The narrative of the film revolves around Sanjay Dutt’s character who plays an orphan and is befriended by a wealthy Salman Khan during their childhood. When Dutt grows up, he becomes a widely popular poet and Madhuri is one of his biggest fans. Madhuri's liking for the poet and Salman coming in the middle led to a love triangle.

The romantic drama Saajan was directed by Lawrence D’Souza and produced by Sudhakar Bolake. The film became the highest grosser of 1991 and became hugely popular for its music, which was composed by the popular composer duo Nadeem–Shravan. The film is still popular among the audiences, especially for the amazing acting by the cast and the evergreen music.
