Dus plot summary

A mobster named Himmat Mehndi provides clues about the plot to the three feared mafias—Jambval (Kapur), Asif, and Himmat Mehndi. The film then showcases how the squad makes it possible to foil Jambval's nefarious schemes with a nail-biting climax.

Reports suggest that Dus had a fantastic debut weekend at the box office in India. It was considered an above-average earner because of its hefty budget, and it made approximately ₹388.4 million during its whole run at the box office. In 2005, it was the ninth-highest-grossing film.

Homage to Mukul S. Anand

Interestingly, Dus pays homage to the late filmmaker Mukul S. Anand, who tragically passed away while filming the unfinished 1997 version of the film, which included Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan as its main stars, along with Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty as the female leads. There were action sequences reminiscent of Sylvester Stallone's work in the film, and the plot revolved around terrorist attacks in Kashmir.

The film's budget of ₹200 million was unparalleled. However, Anand's death led to the film's shelving. The producer, Nitin Manmohan, was the only similarity between his film and the one from 1997, according to filmmaker Anubhav Sinha.
