Malayalam film Chaappa Kurishu has completed 13 years of its release. The main plot of the film revolves around how two men from different social classes are connected by a misplaced cell phone, which has an unexpectedly large impact on their lives. The film's audacious and genuinely emotional filmmaking technique is supported by a compelling story. In Malayalam cinema, it is also regarded as a groundbreaking movie.

Here are a few reasons why you must rewatch this film, which is streaming on Sun NXT as well as OTTplay Premium.

Reasons to watch Chaappa Kurishu

Intriguing plot

Two people's lives are the focus of the movie. Arjun, an influential builder, is getting ready to get engaged to Ann, but he is having an affair with Sonia, his subordinate. Ansari performs odd jobs at a supermarket while working there and living in a slum. When Ansari unintentionally gets Arjun's phone—which contains videos of him and Sonia having sex—their lives take an unexpected turn. But the sex video ends up online without Ansari's knowledge and gains a lot of traction quickly. The two engage in a violent and bloody clash before they eventually calm down and accept their respective fates.

Samir Thahir’s direction

Chaappa Kurishu marked the directorial debut of Samir Thahir. Even though the majority of the movie may not have impressed many people when it was first released, it is still regarded as a bold attempt by a young filmmaker.

Performances

The experience of watching this movie was improved by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Fahadh Faasil's solid performances. Remya Nambeesan gave a bold act in Chaappa Kurishu as well. There is a pivotal scene in this suspenseful film where Fahadh makes out with Remya. This scene between Fahadh and Remya was in the news for a while even though it appears to have been shot with a mobile phone. It was likely the first time a Malayalam film featured a lip-lock scene, making it controversial.
