It's been 12 years since Sunny Leone forayed into Bollywood. In 2012, Pooja Bhatt directed Jism 2, the adult star turned actor's debut. The erotic thriller also featured Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh in pivotal roles. In case you missed watching Jism 2, you can revisit the film on ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium). Dino Morea produced the film, while Mahesh Bhatt penned the screenplay.
Plot of Jism 2
In Jism 2, Ayaan Thakur (Singh), an intelligence bureau officer, assigns porn star Izna (Leone) the mission of locating her ex-lover Kabir (Hooda), who has become a gangster. However, would Kabir welcome Izna's return to his life? They have assigned Kabir, Izna's assassin and ex-boyfriend, the task of setting up a honeytrap to obtain crucial information from him. But a harsh reality hits her soon enough.
Launch of Jism 2 and its inspiration
Bigg Boss made history on December 1, 2011, with the launch of Jism 2, the first of its kind in Indian film. Mahesh Bhatt said that the Italian love story Last Tango in Paris was an inspiration for the film. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given Jism 2 an A-grade for its suggestive sexual material.
After spending a few hours in Bigg Boss, producer-director Mahesh Bhatt presented Sunny Leone with a contract deal to star in the film Jism 2 as the lead heroine. His actor-turned-filmmaker daughter Pooja Bhatt would be in charge of directing the movie.
When asked about Leone's casting in the film, Pooja Bhatt stated that she signed her for the same reason she signed John Abraham in Jism. She trusted her instincts and dispelled the myth that models couldn't act. Now she is excited to sign Sunny Leone, a pornstar in Jism 2, and dispel yet another misconception.
Comparing Jism and Jism 2
Jism was an erotic thriller for an older demographic; Jism 2 is aimed squarely at that demographic, Mahesh Bhatt remarked when asked to compare the two films. Emotionally and sensually, they intend to raise the standard. Jism, a new narrative that revolves around the human heart and features crimes of passion, vengeance, and betrayal, would incorporate all the same elements.
