Plot overview: Vishwas' dream vs. reality
In Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, although his mother would prefer that Vishwas (Shahid Kapoor) become a police officer, he has always dreamed of being an actor. When Vishwas shows up dressed as a genuine policeman during a film production, people mistake him for one. Everyone, even his mother (Padmini Kolhapure) and the criminals, believes he is a genuine police officer, and the misunderstanding only grows. Imagine if his mom found out. What would happen, then?
Earlier during the film's release, Santoshi discussed the casting of Shahid, stating that despite the failure of his previous films, he is an excellent actor who puts in a lot of time and effort. They did an admirable job in the movie, and it will be a smashing hit for him.
Fresh casting choices
The filmmaker further shared that they had Shahid cast for the film in the beginning. Santoshi is impressed with his work despite never having worked together. He believed that this was a film the actor had never worked on before, and it was filled with humour. Ileana was also starring in Barfi! when it came out, and he thought she was fantastic. To Santoshi, it felt like a fresh casting choice.
Shahid went on to say that seeing as she went an entire year without releasing anything, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero holds great significance for him. Because it's a film genre the actor has never seen before, he is quite excited. Compared to Shahid's other roles, this one is completely new to him.
The actor praised Santoshi, saying that he is top-notch. Following him, taking his cues, and, to be honest, occasionally just mimicking him were the most important things to the actor.
Ileana on maintaining humour and dancing pressure
Ileana also revealed that maintaining the originality of the humour in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero was not an easy feat. For this movie, she feels both anxious and thrilled. Attempting to keep up with Shahid's incredible dancing abilities made her dread.
