Sathuranga Vettai, the pathbreaking Tamil film which was helmed by filmmaker H Vinoth in his directorial debut, has completed 10 years since its release. The heist film, which stars Natraj aka Natty in the lead role, can be watched on Disney+ Hotstar right now.

10 years of Sathuranga Vettai

Few films take the industry by storm. One such film was the 2014 Satturanga Vettai, helmed by then debutant director H Vinoth. The film was released on July 18, 2014, and became a critically and commercially successful film, paving the way for Vinoth to earn a name. If you like to revisit the film, it is available on Disney+ Hotstar.

The heist thriller film is about a man named Gandhi Babu, who contrary to his name is a conman, and has no issues over cheating people for money. Cinematographer and actor Natty played the lead role.

Besides Natty, the film also stars Ishaara Nair, Ponvannan, Ilavarasu, Piraisoodan and others. Sathuranga Vettai has music by Sean Roldan and KG Venkatesh served as the cinematographer. SP Raja Sethupathi edited the film. Backed by late filmmaker and actor Manobala under Manobala's Picture House, the film was remade in Telugu as Bluff Master and is being remade in Kannada as Jagath Khiladi.

Unreleased sequel of Sathuranga Vettai

Following the success of the first part, a sequel was planned with director Vinoth who agreed to work with Thirrupathi Brothers banner which distributed the 2014 film. However, due to financial difficulties, the project did not take off and the filmmakers had to eventually exit the project.

After Manobala stepped into the project, Salim director NV Nirmal Kumar was signed as a director and actors Trisha and Arvind Swamy were cast in Sathuranga Vettai 2. The release of the film was further delayed after financial troubles brewed on Manobala's side and was indefinitely put on hold after his death. The release of Sathuranga Vettai remains unknown to this date.
