Set mostly over the course of a single night, Kaali (Vikram), who runs a grocery store, gets a call from the influential Ravi (Prudhvi Raj), a man Kaali used to work for as a henchman. Ravi asks Kaali for assistance in taking out the local SP Arunagiri (SJ Suryah), who is determined to take down Ravi and his son Kannan (Suraj Venjaramoodu). Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 offers a unique experience. Unlike typical world-building that directors often engage in, SU Arun Kumar takes a different approach. As a sequel, it presents a universe where the characters are already familiar with one another, and their relationships are either established or, in this case, strained. There are minimal callbacks, aside from a detailed flashback. The story is already in motion, and you simply hop on for the ride. When names are mentioned and stories are revisited, the characters respond, and it takes a moment to piece everything together. This is the essence of Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2—a richly layered narrative skillfully carried by Vikram and the rest of the cast.

By richly layered, I mean that Arun Kumar skips the usual establishing shots or simple callbacks to help the audience connect the dots. While there is one flashback, the director provides enough substance to engage with. The narrative expands and deepens, which can be both a strength and a weakness at times. The film kicks off with a woman arriving at Ravi’s home, accusing him of harming her husband. Ravi denies the claim, but it’s clear that neither he nor Kannan are exactly saints. Arunagiri, who has his own troubled past, quickly takes action after the woman's husband reports her missing at the police station. From this point, the story shifts focus from the couple to the intense and personal vendetta shared by Kaali, Arunagiri, Kannan, and Ravi, culminating in a final shot that brings the narrative full circle. Even in its subtleties, the attention to detail is commendable.

In one of the film's interviews, Arun Kumar reminisces about waiting in line for one of Vikram's classic action films. If you think back or pay attention, you'll see exactly what this movie has in store for you. It blends a bit of the familiar with a fresh approach to storytelling, moving past the usual clichés and excessive dialogue. While Veera Dheera Sooran may not fit the mold of a typical commercial film, there's a standout moment that makes the wait worthwhile, especially when the story takes a nostalgic turn to elevate Vikram. Now, connect the dots: this film is an action thriller that leans heavily on stunts. Take a guess where that leads. Just when you think it can't get more commercial, remember the unexpected interval scene that really steals the show.

In Veera Dheera Sooran, the cinematography feels almost like a performance art. Cinematographer Theni Eswar uses handheld and single shots to keep the story engaging. With its back-and-forth narrative and intercut scenes, the shaky handheld shots maintain the tension throughout. The music, particularly the background score, enhances the film's atmosphere.

The film showcases a strong cast, with Vikram as Kaali serving as the backbone of Veera Dheera Sooran. As a devoted family man, a skilled henchman, and a quick-witted character, Vikram embodies the essence of what Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 is all about—raw and edgy.

Arun Kumar has truly dedicated a significant amount of time to crafting the film's universe, focusing heavily on the details. While we’ll have to see if the first part ties everything together, the second part does a solid job of adding depth. This film is packed with subtle references and nuances that you might miss if you blink. Despite some slow moments, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 offers a blend of traditional and fresh storytelling.
