Shades of Baby Pink Story
The story of Baby Shades of Pink is quite simple. A five-year-old Buddu(Yashvasin) is left behind by his parents who go to the US to settle down in their respective jobs. The grandparents played by Jaya Lalitha and Srinivas Bhogireddy are now responsible for the kid. Initially, Buddy gets along with his grandparents but as time passes by, he starts missing his parents. The story of Baby Shades of Pink is about the child's journey until he finally reaches his parents and the grandparents are left behind heartbroken.
Shades of Baby Pink Review
Neelima Gudavalli has directed this award-winning film. The best part of the film is that it is under forty minutes but showcases a thousand emotions. Director Neelima beautifully showcases what a child goes through when his parents leave him with his grandparents and head away to the US to fulfill their career duties.
This happens a lot in India as a majority of parents leave their kids with their grandparents and stay alone in the US. Director Neelima showcases things through the eyes of a five-year-old kid Buddu who goes through so many emotions that he cannot even express them. At the same time, the plight of the aged grandparents and what they go through when they are suddenly robbed of their love for their grandkids is showcased beautifully by the director.
The emotions that the kid goes through while seeing a world map, he feels that the US is very near but eventually understands that things are not that easy for him to meet his mother is showcased in the best way possible. The Child loves his pets, forgets his parents, and spends cozy time with his grandparents. But as time passes by, he loses interest in everything and becomes dull. This aspect of emotion is showcased movingly.
Credit should go to Neelima for choosing the child actor who does an impressive job. In some of the scenes where he misses his mon, Yashvasin brings tears to our eyes. There is no overdramatization of emotions and everything is told in a very organic manner. That is also one reason, why Shades of Baby Pink feels a bit slow. But to understand the proper emotions of each character one should feel the pain and that is the reason for the slow pace.
Coming to the performances, it is so good to see veteran actress Jaya Lalitha in such an emotional role. She as a caring grandmother does so well in her role. The way she holds the child does not speak much and emotes through her eyes is just superb and is one of the biggest highlights. Krishna Manjusha plays the kid's mother and though she does not have much screen time, the way she showcases the pain of missing her son is brought out so well by the actress.
But it is the little kid Yashvasin, who takes away the cake. The way he was made to perform is good. The little kid is so perfect that we travel with his pain till the end of the film. The writing is simple but how director Neelima executed the film is so nice. How she ends the film by showing that everyone leaves the old parents and moves on life and they are the ones who fight a lonely battle.
This aspect is shown well. But one also gets a feeling that the ending should have been better. The way the kid leaves his grandmother and ends up meeting his parents is not showcased at all. Shades of Baby Pink ends on a simple and plain note. Apart from this, Neelima Guna's Baby Shades of Pink is such a warm film that will touch your heart.
Shades of Baby Pink Verdict
On the whole, Shades of Baby Pink is a moving drama that showcases the heartwrenching emotions of a five-year-old kid who is left alone with his grandparents after his parents travel to the US. The emotions are real and the performances hold your attention making this film an endearing watch on ETV Win.
