Purushothmudu Review
Purushothmudu has a simple backdrop. A rich guy coming back to India to find his roots has been showcased in many films to date and the same is dealt with in Purushothamudu as well. But the difference here is the narrative and drama that has been executed in an engaging manner. Director Ram Bheema has written his script in such a way that there are a lot of subplots and scenes that create tension in the narrative.
The romantic track between the lead pair has been handled in a decent manner and evokes decent fun. But the sad part is that there is no major conflict point in the film. But the presence of A-listers like Raj Tharun, Murali Sharma, and Ramya Krishna make things watchable. The first half of the film is filled with comedy and some family entertainment scenes.
In the second half, the actual story, twists, and drama are showcased in a decent manner. There is nothing special in the storyline, but the manner in which director Ram narrates the scene looks interesting. But one also gets a feeling that the main villain should have been elevated in a decent manner. The second half also has a lot of issues as there is no twist and this makes things predictable for the audience. But as the drama is good, things look breezy.
Coming to the performances, Raj Tharun gets a tailor-made role to showcase his talent. He, as a rich young man who is fighting against the corrupt system and his own enemies in his family, has done a great job. He is in the news for his police case and has avoided the promotions of the film. But all this does not affect the film as he has given a solid performance. All his emotional scenes in the village have been executed well.
Murali Sharma once again shines in a key role and creates an impact. Ramya Krishna is seen in a brief role and brings a lot of depth to the proceedings. Hasini Sudheer makes an impressive debut as Ammu and does her role convincingly. Her screen presence is also neat. Prakash Raj was also next in his role. Mukesh Khanna was given a crucial role, and he performed to the best of his capabilities.
Coming to the technical aspects, the production values of the film are pretty impressive. Especially the camerawork is amazing. The manner in which the village visuals have been showcased is quite impressive. Also, the fights composed are nice. Raj Tharu is given solid mass moments, and he handled them well.
The editing could have been a tad better in the film, especially in the second half; close to ten minutes should have been chopped off to make things better. Gopi Sundar has composed the music, and two songs are very good. But it is his background score that does the trick, as it is not loud and is composed in a very subtle and impressive manner.
Parushothamudu has a predictable premise and a few loose ends and continuity issues, but the scenes related to redemption and the emotions attached to it hold your attention till the end.
Parushothamudu Verdict
On the whole, Parushothamudu is a coming-of-age drama that threads a familiar path and is slow in a few areas. But the redemption scenes, impressive performances, and dramatic scenes hold your attention.
