Mere Husband Ki Biwi regrettably does not meet expectations. If it were a culinary creation, it might resemble a soggy piece of toast—promising more than it ultimately delivers. While the film contains some noteworthy moments, it ultimately lacks a cohesive and engaging narrative.
Arjun Kapoor, typically a dependable actor, finds it challenging to infuse his character with depth in this instance. His performance appears lacklustre, and his efforts to convey emotions do not resonate as they should. At times, his expressions seem more bewildered than anything else, detracting from the character's potential.
Bhumi Pednekar’s portrayal of Prabhleen is intended to convey complexity, yet her performance falls short of the required vibrancy. At moments, it seems as though she is part of a different film entirely, struggling to establish her presence in what could have been a compelling role.
Rakul Preet Singh, despite her commendable transformation, fails to find her footing in this film. Her performance appears somewhat lacking in depth, and while she does possess a notable screen presence, it does not suffice to enhance the overall material.
The storyline is rather predictable and does not deliver the emotional impact typically anticipated from a romantic drama. The interactions between the characters are rooted in jealousy and misunderstandings; however, the stakes are insufficiently high to evoke genuine concern from the audience. Consequently, the narrative feels uninspired, and the characters, despite their good intentions, come across as rather unappealing.
Mudassar Aziz’s direction encounters challenges in maintaining the film's momentum, with pacing issues that contribute to an impression of excessive length. There is potential within the concept, yet it becomes obscured by a script that fails to fulfil its initial promise.
The musical score also does little to enhance the film, serving more as background noise than as a meaningful accompaniment to the narrative.
