Dev – who became a superstar in Bengal with his action films like Challenge, Paglu, and many others – has recently been busy with family dramas. He teamed up with producer Atanu Roychaudhuri and director Avijit Sen and presented superhit films, like Tonic, Projapati, and Pradhan. His fans, while defending his endeavour in family dramas, craved for their hero to be back in action films. The superstar seems to have heard their call in Khadaan.

Khadaan, which features Dev, Jisshu U Sengupta, Barkha Bisht, Idhika Paul, and others, will be released this winter. On August 29, the teaser of the film was dropped, and the actor’s fans could not keep calm. The teaser is dotted with gripping dialogue. Soojit Dutta (Rino), who is also the director of the film, teamed up with Biswarup Biswas for the dialogues.

The teaser starts with high-octane action. In the beginning, Dev says, “Family niye byasto achi bole ki bhebechish? Action the bhule gechi? Ota amari kaaj. (Did you think I forgot ‘action’ because I was busy with my family? That (action) is my department.” According to his fans, Dev's dialogue is inspired by his own journey and it is also his announcement of getting back to the action genre.

The teaser shows camaraderie between Dev and Jisshu. Together, they rule a coal mining area. There are two timelines—past and present. The teaser hints at a gang war story based in an industrial area. A gripping storyline, laced with good dialogue, is the secret recipe of a good action film. The teaser of Khadaan looks promising. Will this film be the second inning of Dev’s journey into the action genre? Only time will tell.

Khadaan will be released on December 20. Meanwhile, Tekka – Dev’s joint venture with Srijit Mukherji – will be dropped during Puja.
