Hiter Movie Story
Selva (Vijay Antony) comes to Chennai, and by circumstances falls in love with Sarah (Riya Suman) who lives with her aunt. Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Sakthi (Gautham Menon) is on a lookout of a person who has killed several a few underworld thugs and looted money belonging to powerful authorities. Who is the person behind this, and how does corrupt politicians are at play, forms the rest of the story.
Hiter Movie Review
The tone of Hitler being a political thriller is set when the candidate next to be the chief minister says that he will no matter will attain the position, even if he has to spend crores of money to buy the position, instead of telling he would gain the vote bank in his favour. And when the money belonging to these powerful authorities is stolen, Hitler becomes a film to search answer for the person who is behind all this. Early on, we are also shown a group of women somewhere in Theni also getting stranded because of lack of bridges, as they try to cross a flooded path. As expected, they drown and die. While you may wonder how these circumstances, however cruel they may sound, be related to the title referring to a dictator, the answer is never given, and much like you keep wondering, the film too meanders in an attempt to catch up to its genre of being a political thriller.
One of the qualms that I have about the film is also how the female lead’s character is shaped up. Shown to be outgoing and dominant, the first major information we learn about her is when she is fired from her company, and is consoled by her manager saying, “You are beautiful, you will get another job soon.” In the next montage, is she being rejected by another company saying, “Just being fair and beautiful is not enough for you to get this job.” How much ever both the statements are contradictory and more importantly unnecessary to the situation, the dejection in her losing the job and the subsequent drowning herself in a drink makes her say, “I am from a good family, I don’t drink often.” Hitler dedicating extra moments to build such scenes with no value addition to the story, and sparing a few moments to unravel the actual story, is the major drawback of the film.
A political thriller, the film nowhere makes the audience get attached to the characters. We are shown corrupt politicians who can buy anything with their money, a determinant cop in search of the culprit, a budding romance, and mystery looming. It comes as no-brainer when the interval revelation happens, and subsequent tie-ups. This gives you no look forwards in a film, which otherwise does not have any more to offer.
Hiter Movie Verdict
Hitler is a bland political thriller that struggles to stay true to its genre. It manages to capture the essence by drawing elements, but the emotional connect goes missing. A bit of everything, and little of cohesive storytelling makes the film, far from being enjoyable.
