Hisaab Barabar Review:
While audiences have seen numerous films and web shows centred around financial scams, such as Raid, Scam 1992, and Special 26, Hisaab Barabar stands out by focusing on a common man who dares to challenge the system. Though it shares a similar premise involving financial fraud, the narrative uniquely explores the struggle of an ordinary individual taking on powerful forces.
Hisaab Barabar follows the story of Radhe Mohan Sharma, portrayed by R Madhavan, a simple and honest Ticket Collector working for Indian Railways. Although Radhe’s day-to-day life involves ensuring his calculations are perfect while caring for his child as a single parent, his true passion lies in accounting. Unfortunately, personal circumstances prevented him from pursuing his dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant.
Everything changes when Radhe notices a minor discrepancy of Rs 27.50 in his bank statement from Do Bank. Upon further investigation, he discovers similar issues in his colleagues' accounts, leading him to believe that the bank is scamming its customers. Driven by a desire for justice, Radhe files a complaint accusing the bank of fraud. However, his actions soon set off a chain of events that pits him against the powerful Mickey Mehta, the bank owner, who uses his influence to turn the system against Radhe. The film follows Radhe's courageous fight to expose the truth, despite the obstacles he faces.

Hisaab Barabar largely succeeds due to its gripping narrative and the way it intricately showcases how Radhe uncovers financial fraud. The film’s occasional humour adds much-needed relief to the more intense or complex scenes. While the comedy generally blends well, it feels forced in certain moments, like the scene where Radhe’s neighbour Monalisa (played by Rashami Desai) laughs off a serious matter that has already caused significant trouble in Radhe’s life.
That said, the R Madhavan-starrer stays true to its core plot and reinforces the message that the power of the common man should never be underestimated. Radhe Mohan Sharma, despite sometimes appearing naïve, proves to be a determined and resilient figure. Though he does question his decisions, particularly when his child's safety is at risk, a pivotal moment pushes him to continue his fight for justice.
However, the film leaves certain aspects unexplored, such as the reason behind Radhe's separation from his ex-wife and why he’s raising their child alone. While Radhe occasionally mentions that his "hisaab" never matched with his ex-partner, the full story behind their split remains unclear, which leaves a gap in the narrative. This is one of the areas where Hisaab Barabar could have provided more depth.

Kirti Kulhari’s portrayal of P Shubhash is a standout in Hisaab Barabar. From her initial meeting with Radhe on the train to the moment he uncovers her true identity and past, her character unfolds in a captivating way. Kirti brings depth to the role, making her character arc compelling and memorable. On the other hand, Neil Nitin Mukesh delivers a solid performance as Mickey Mehta, effectively playing the antagonist, though his role doesn’t quite have the same impact as Kulhari's.

Hisaab Barabar Final Verdict:
R Madhavan's satirical thriller, Hisaab Barabar, is a film that will resonate with the common men. It is a thought-provoking story that will stay with you for a while after you watch it. You can stream this film on ZEE5 and with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
