Vijay Milton makes a reboot of his Goli Soda film , this time in a format series titled Goli Soda Rising. The filmmaker retains the characters from his film, that is the four young boys (Pulli, Settu, Sithappa, and Kuttimani) who toiled at Koyembedu market, now run eatery Aachi mess, with the help of some good souls. Two of them also have girlfriends, ATM and Yamini, who also reprise their roles from the film. While the stage has already been set, the first three episodes of Goli Soda Rising is an introduction to various tracks that explore the lives if these youngsters, we are also introduced to Ravi (Shaam), a gangster who controls the harbour; Thillai (Cheran), a man with a dark past, out after serving his jail sentence; Urundai (Pugazh), a petty gangster who is aping Ravi, among the many others, including petty thief, an aspiring police officer, and a tutorial college student.

Goli Soda Rising first impression review

The three episodes of Goli Soda Rising are mainly dedicated to setting up the pace of the series, and naturally it slows down as Vijay Milton wants us to know the current phases these characters are in. With three groups at the centre of affairs, the series mainly concentrates on the four youngsters who aspire to set up a food truck near the market and expand their business. So far, Goli Soda Rising threads on building its premise, on how each of the characters can get meddled up in situations leading to their interactions with one another. How the world of the Koyembedu boys would collide with those of the gangsters is what that drives the series, and provided with an engaging screenplay, Goli Soda could become potentially a watchable series.

What to expect from Goli Soda Rising

With several more episodes to go, Goli Soda Rising promises to retain the flavour of what made the film format a success. The original actors reprising their roles certainly helps in favour of the series, and the additions seem to bring more drama to the table. While there is no doubt that it begins with a slow start, and requires much establishment of the characters and layers to make it an engrossing watch, Goli Soda Rising also has to bring a coherency in its rest of the storyline.

Capitalising on the series format, even as the each of the episodes does not have an intriguing hook to make you watch the next, one shall has to wait and watch if Vijay Milton will be serving a series that is bingeworthy or not.
