Gangnam B-Side episodes 5 and 6 review: Watch it for Ji Chang-wook amid the complicated storyline

Story:

Jennie takes a decision, thus leaving Yong-pil scarred. He is out seeking revenge for the person who hurt the woman who he considered family.

Review:

As promised, Gangnam B-Side episode 5 commences with Dong-woo (Jo Woo-jin)'s daughter, Min Seo-jin, who is about to be sold off. Ha Yoon-kyung, who plays the role, is in focus. She portrays various emotions, and all of them work. Woo-jin, on the other hand, is milder than ever, make him least impressive in the series so far.

Ji Chang-wook's make-up in the episodes does the major work for him. The flashbacks also, obviously, work in the favour of his character. His power scene in episode 6 is something you wouldn't want to miss at all. He is back in action and as always, it is the emotion that overpowers and makes him glow in such scenes.

BIBI does not impress like the last episodes but still has some of her best moments to offer. Nonetheless, the episodes are about the rise of Yoon-kyung and lest to say, she knows what she's doing.

Ok Ja-yeon, who plays Choi Su-in, is just as impressive. She screams danger wither her appearance and body language alone.

Hyun Bong-sik finally makes an appearance and he is a character that is impressive in bits always. This time, too, he has little to offer.

Sung II, originally a detective, expectedly makes a switch. He plays his character to perfection in the episodes, almost as perfect as Jang Eui-don is when it comes to this drug universe.

The story moves at a slower pace than usual, but that doesn't mean that it gets boring. There is almost always something to look forward to, it just isn't a thrill in every moment kind of episode(s). It is complicated enough though, but once you move over that, there is no looking back.

Verdict:

As always, Chang-wook is the most promising in these episodes too. He puts in emotions to turn himself into the villain (even though he really isn't). If you hold on, you'll get to see some of his fire moments, one even towards the end of the sixth episode.
