What happened in Episode 12?

Episode 12 depicts Hong Hee-joo receiving an international call from the number 604, suggesting that Sa-eon is still alive. Additionally, she receives a letter from Buiben International Sign Language acknowledging her contributions to the students who have found their voices through her efforts. However, she soon realizes that the letter must be from her husband. Shortly thereafter, she discovers that the letter is in Argan. With Hyeok-jin's assistance, Hee-joo makes her way to Argan, where Hyeok-jin mentions a location he used to visit to watch the sunset.

Upon arriving at the school, Hee-joo learns that the contribution was made in her name and that no one has visited in person. She inquires with the school principal about the sunset location, who informs her that it is Bestin Chapel, but she cannot reach it due to an ongoing war. Undeterred, she proceeds and is subsequently hijacked along with others. Meanwhile, Sa-eon, whose face is concealed by a mask, comes to their rescue and takes Hee-joo to his vehicle. The two finally meet and share a passionate kiss.

Hee-joo questions him about his absence, to which he responds that the murdered Sa-eon had informed him that his father was responsible for the death of Hee-joo's brother. Overcome with guilt, he sought to punish himself. Nevertheless, the couple reunites and shares an intimate moment. In a surprising twist, it is revealed that Sa-eon is actually Paik Yu-yeon, who was sent to Izmael to negotiate with armed militants that had kidnapped Korean nationals.
