Story:

The last term in Las Encilas is here, and there is another murder among the students. More complicated lives among the elites get explored, while others deal with their old traumas.

Review:

After Raúl's murder last season, Elite is back. Sara moved on, so did Chloe. With that, Eric and Nico both headed to a new life for themselves too. But, not really. The season commences with another rave party, and the whole school is here.

Isadora takes centre stage once again. Of course, it being Elite, the season begins with another death - of Joel.

With Joel comes Omar (and Ivan), but the story focuses on Omar, for he has gone back to healing and is somehow doing better than last we saw him at Las Encilas.

Nadia's surprise entry on the show raises the bar for what is expected from this season. Unfortunately, it barely does hold up to the expectations.

Héctor and Emelia are here and since they smell trouble, there's a constant air of mystery around them, with music and expressions. Interesting new relationships form. Nico's once-girlfriend Sonia has moved on, and it is with someone you know.

From sexual appeal to drugs and fight for power, the season retains what Elite essentially has been over the years. Old relations, new faces complicating it all, continues, and is just as intriguing.

With Luis involved, we already know that there are instances with the cops being involved and, on that front, you are not disappointed in this season either.

Omar is someone who will win you over once again, especially when it comes to his confrontation with Héctor. After that point though, you'd not be able to differentiate if you're really still in a Spanish drama or entered the world of K-Drama because of the level of bullying.

On the other hand, Joel's story, which is the focus of this season, gets too hard to follow. There's an overdose of intimacy, to the point where it no longer leaves an impact.

In case you thought you have the capability to screw over your life, trust us, this guy is a pro at it. He is exactly what you need to feel better about your life, in case you feel down for where you are heading.

The buildup to the murder is interesting and by the time, you can take a few guesses about who might want to hurt Joel, and the way the mystery is revealed, it leaves you with a mini attack.

The season tends to leave you emotional as it comes to an end. It is all about separation, reunion and memories at the same time.

The last episode is a rollercoaster ride right from the word go. This is the one episode where the pace is slower than expected and that is the only reason this one, despite getting us closer to the climax, is the weakest episode.

All the actors do a fine job with the series. They're not perfect but deliver exactly what the scene demands, at least most of the time.

The music, as always, is a wonder in the eighth season of Elite. The pace of the show, like with most seasons, is on point, except for the last episode.

For what could be the last of Elite, this one is a disappointment. This is mainly because many characters have gone missing. Just bringing back Nadia, who isn't even the same Nadia from season 1, does not really work for the show. However, one thing this season does it educate on the right use of social media, subtly. With that, we get our 'happy ending,' which ends up being hilarious because of the vast cultural difference our gang sees in their new (temporary) college.

Verdict:

Elite season 8 is only passable. The season is definitely not the best of the lot and for most bits, it drags on. Although there is a lot of nostalgia involved and fans of the show will have something to look forward to, but for an ending, there definitely could be a lot more than what was, especially for the legacy it leaves behind (the remakes, Class and probably even Hierarchy). You could watch this one only if you have nothing else to do.
